RESEARCH IN TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM CHARACTERISTICS AND OPERATIONS
This article is a brief comment on Turnquist's transportation systems supply resource paper (see IRRD 287454). It addresses three areas: (1) expansion to consider in greater detail the prospect of knowledge based expert systems applications in this area; (2) prospect and problems associated with automated vehicle control; (3) difference in emphasis with respect to the selection of suitable modelling approaches.
